Harry whistled jauntily as he strolled round the room, eying other the other Explorers as he wend and giving the papers are casual glance as he did so. Behind him, Phillipe grumbled that his pen had gone missing here, Agatha's glasses vanished and Charles' name-embroidered handkerchief disappeared.
They were used to this sort of thing by now, however, and when Harry moved towards Anna, she spotted him coming and glared. Harry reconsidered and swerved towards another table - this time, Earl's.
This was probably a mistake though, as Earl wasn't known for having safe substances near him. 'Hey!' said Earl to the whole room as Harry passed by. 'Has anyone seen my eraser somewhere?' Harry, now humming, began moving towards the door , deciding it was time to beat a retreat and see what he'd got away with.
'Erm,' Earl's voice got louder. 'it's really important - if it touches paper it removes all trace of writing - we don't want it coming into contact with a clue!'
Harry realised his error as he heard a fizzing noise in his pocket. Panicking, he pulled his hand out in time to see the white, rubbery object that he'd picked up begin spinning in his hand.
Harry yelped, diving for cover as it shot up into the air and, with a deafening noise, did what Earl's experiments were famous for.
When Harry regained his hearing, he realised the whole room was staring at him through a haze of floating bits of burnt paper, smoke and dust. He cleared his throat meaningfully, turning his gaze to Earl to try and lay the blame elsewhere; but Earl was already looking straight at him too.
Harry smiled charmingly and began to shrug to diffuse the situation, when his pocket- still full of various purloined articles - suddenly popped open, the explosion clearly having weakened it, spilling its contents across the floor.
The Explorers all spotted their own items among the mess, and, glaring at Harry, retrieved them. All that was left was an envelope: 'Challenge 22: Mystery Challenge'. Funny thing though - Harry couldn't think where it might have come from.
