Well.. unless you are playing a 2 hour game, I can't see the greed from going afk a problem. I can easily end up doing nearly nothing 5 to 10 minutes to the end of the game (I play 60 minute games usually), since by that point I have reached my achievement goals, and my general goal for each village...

I have been thinking for a while that having a secondary layer of sources could be interesting. Secondary layers could be smaller things like insects, or birds.. maybe special ones for some biomes, like plants/ kelp in the ocean; maybe there could be some primary sources that block secondary layers ...

Assuming that you're changing starting projects to be next to the village, why not just make it so they will favor empty patches closer to the village? If you literally have nothing left to do, and would rather let the game run for 10+ minutes for it to finish, then I don't see why there shouldn't be an option for this. Simply having the option to remove visible villagers (other than wars) should help anyone that is not currently able to play the game with reasonalbe fps. Would it be possible to have an option to reduce or stop some animations, or just make human people not visible? I can imagine there would be alot of people with slow computers wanting to play this, and if it isn't hard to implement, I don't see a reason why there shouldn't be an option for it.
