I would say it depends on the patch. If it's a major patch that absolutely cripples the prominent strategies (like this latest one was), you need a reset. If it's a minor patch that doesn't change much, you can just mark the scores so people know they used an older patch. But if that's too situation...

Start with at least 5 villages, so you get your first 10 ambassadors easily. Make sure you get up to 14 ambassadors off level-3 projects, rather than burning one of those easy ambassadors on a level-4 project. Your 13th and 14th ambassadors have to be carefully planned - those are your bread-and-but...

Check and make sure you aren't failing projects. Every time a city fails a project (or you destroy a project), it gives an instant greed spike, regardless of awe and danger. Oceans are actually 9, not 7. But you can narrow them down to just 6 with the mountain giant. 100 tile world. 6 villages. 16.67 tiles per village. Village itself takes up 4 in the middle, so you want roughly... Village - 12 spaces - village - 12 spaces - village - .... That leaves you with 4 spare s...

I know you have a lot on your plate, but one thing I would find interesting is a randomized mode where you get, say, most of the level-1, half the level-2, and a handful of level-3 sources unlocked... chosen at random. Then you can see how good a world you can put together with the limited selection...

Save attached. I tried lowering the mountain again there just now, and it actually did lower without crashing (unlike the three previous tries)... then when I went to raise a new mountain right next to it to continue my bunny-hill pattern, it crashed.
