Chairman Pinkerton stood in the Great Hall by the list of Renowned Explorers, musing thoughtfully as he scanned the list. He'd been at it all morning, and the Renowned Explorers were gathering, looking at one another with a degree of worry. The only thing the Chairman would
normally spend this long over was tea, fan mail and glowing press reports about him or the Society - preferably the Society with lots of information about his part in running it all.

The Explorers didn't dare disturb him, rumours and whispers travelling among them quickly - was it a new expedition? A new airship? A new brand of tea? Or was it something far more worrying like, for example, a pile of incomplete paperwork that kept Pinkerton away from his ooffice for so long? (This would inevitably end up in someone else's room with the Chairman's expectation for it to be delivered back - complete - the following day.)

Speculation was rife, and tension built steadily as the Chairman mused over the names.

Finally, he cleared his throat and turned, eyes scanning the crowd. 'Ahh,' he said, pleased. 'I'm glad you're all here. I was thinking it's been some time since we had a proper Roll Call in the Society.'

The Explorers shifted uneasily, unsure if this was a good or bad thing.

'You see, I've been looking at our records, and it's come to my attention that no one ever
checks how good our members are at their jobs.' Harry began carefully making towards the exit, not liking the sound of this, along with several other Explorers. But before anyone could reach safety, the Chairman raised his voice sharply.

'So I expect all of you to report at the awards ceremony this year with full recommendations from your chosen crew - as well as your usual winnings to compete for the prize.' He let that sink in a moment, then added 'Of course, those of you who have an excellent record will have even more to live up to - and should anyone fall short-' his eyes glared at Harry, who froze half-way out of the door. '-they'll have to undergo training with one of our top Explorers!'

There was a brief pause, the Explorers exchanging glances. That didn't sound so bad-

Rivaleux stepped forwards, chest swelling with pride as he spoke. 'I'll be glad to step in to assist anyone who's fallen behind on their knowledge of the Renowned Explorers rule book! After all, who better could train his peers than myself!'

Pinkerton gleefully nodded, a wicked gleam in his eyes. 'Good idea, you can train
everyone who fails to show enough support from the rest of the Society in terms of their long-standing records: we couldn't allow anyone out in the world who can't get the support of their team-mates, after-all!'

The Explorers looked at each other in horror at thought of being subjected to Rivaleux's "tutoring". The next unpleasant thought that occured to them was that the people they'd need to help were the same ones that were competitors for this year's award ceremony.

  • Your position on the Hall of Fame affects which captains you may choose for this challenge - check your position on the Hall of Fame - see below for exact captains to choose from, with the highest positions in the Hall of Fame limited to only 6 choices of captain and the lower tiers (and players new to the challenges) getting either 13 available Captains or the full 20 to choose from.
  • To find your record, follow the link to the Hall of Fame and search for your name to find the Medal Points (the furthest left number against your name). Any new players will have 0 Medal Points, and anyone with less than 2 medal points will also not show, but fall within the lowest boundary and have all Captains available to choose from.
  • There is no limitation on the rest of the crew taken.
[*} You must progress through expeditions in order: your starter island, followed by a two star, then a three star, then four, and finally five. The exception is when using Victor's card, you may take expeditions earlier than normal; but still cannot take an earlier expedition later than it would normally become available. Eg. you may go either 2-3-4-5 or 3-4-5-5 using Victor's card, but cannot go lower than 2-3-4-5.
  • In addition, the top-scorer for each section of the Hall of Fame will automatically be upgraded to a Platinum medal regardless of the score boundaries.
  • You must play on Adventure mode.
Available to everyone (and the only Captains available to those with 80+ Medal Points in the Hall of Fame):
  • 1. Ivan
  • 2. Kiwi
  • 3. Jan-Piet
  • 4. Harry
  • 5. Emilia
  • 6. Agatha
In addition to the above, those who have 40-79 Medal Points in the Hall of Fame can also chose from:
  • 7. Pedrinho
  • 8. Hildegard
  • 9. Bia
  • 10. Victor
  • 11. Maria
  • 12. Phillippe
  • 13. Hatice
In addition, available to anyone who has 0-39 Medal Points in the Hall of Fame (also for new players):
  • 14. Molly
  • 15. Yvonne
  • 16. Earl
  • 17. Charles
  • 18. Dolores
  • 19. Kwame
  • 20. Anna

IThe top scorers in each section of the Hall of Fame will automatically gain a platinum medal regardles of the score boundaries, but for everyone else, these boundaries decide your medal:
  • BRONZE: 1500 total renown (1MP*)
  • SILVER: 4000 total renown (2MP*)
  • GOLD: 7000 total renown (3MP*)
  • PLATINUM: 11000 total renown (3MP+**)
* Number of medal points awarded when playing on Classic Difficulty. Easy and Normal give less, according to these rules.
** The platinum medal is extraordinary and can only be achieved on Classic or Impossible difficulty without losing. It doesn't increase Medal Points further than a Gold medal, but we will track how many you have.

If you entered last week's challenge on Steam and are using the old version of Renowned Explorers, you must ensure you have changed back to the current patch before taking part in this challenge. (Right click on RE:IS, Properties, Betas, then opt out of betas - you'll only need this if you changed this setting previously: all standard versions of RE:IS will be on the correct setting anyway!)

Game Version
For Steam users, build must be Patch 412 or later and for GoG users, must be patch 407 or later.

Story ideas: What kind of horrors does Rivaleux have in store for those who fail the test? What lengths will the Explorers go to in order to get the support of each other and win the ceremony this time?
